The Soualiga Film Festival was created in collaboration with Truly Caribbean Network, our non-profit foundation on St. Maarten.

The event was first held in 2006 and will be back in 2009 with a new vision and purpose.

Soualiga which means "Land of Salt" refers to the island of St. Maarten/St. Martin, which once exported salt all around the globe. The Soualiga Film Festival will be another avenue to add salt not just to the St. Maarten but to the world as future events will showcase only films and that have a clear message to educate, inspire and improve our way of thinking and engaging in our lives and that of others.

Truly Caribbean Network is the brand name for New Hope Ministries Foundation, which was established at the St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce in June 1998.

Since its inception, TCN has worked with many youth and community organizations to develop opportunities to change of the lives of people on St. Maarten and the world.

TCN was the lead sponsor for YES 2006 and SFF '06. They also work closely with the St. Peters Youth Council, SUNFED and other non-profit agencies offering promotional support, consulting and presentations to impact the target groups.

TCN helped to launch Victory Christian Academy, the first alternative learning educational program with a 100% Christian curriculum in 2006.

Victory Christian Academy was founded in January 2006 by Nerissa Golden and the board of the Victory Temple Church of God of Prophecy on St. Maarten.

The school began with seven students at a variety of grade levels and now boasts more than 30 students from Kindergarten to High School. The curriculum is 100% biblically based and provides a Christian world view for students. The school grade average is more than 94% and all students are encouraged to achieve their best before transitioning to new levels.
